FRENCH LISTENING COMPREHENSION STORY:

Dans une grande forêt, un petit sapin pousse doucement. Il est entouré de grands arbres. Le petit sapin est très impatient. Il veut grandir vite. Il rêve déjà du jour où il sera grand, beau et fort, comme les grands sapins autour de lui. Pour l’instant, il est petit, et il a l’impression que personne ne fait attention à lui.
Chapter 1: The Young Fir Tree in the Forest
In a large forest, a little fir tree grows slowly. It is surrounded by tall trees. The little fir tree is very impatient. It wants to grow quickly. It already dreams of the day when it will be tall, beautiful, and strong, like the big trees around it. For now, it is small, and it feels like no one pays attention to it.

Le petit sapin grandit, mais pas assez vite à son goût. Chaque jour, il regarde les grands sapins avec envie et se demande : "Pourquoi est-ce que je suis si petit ? Je veux être grand maintenant !" Il ne voit pas ce qu’il y a autour de lui : ni la beauté du soleil, ni celle de la pluie, ni celle du vent, ni la douceur de la terre. Il ne pense qu’à sa taille, trop petite à ses yeux.
Chapter 2: The Fir Tree's Impatience
The little fir tree is growing, but not fast enough for its liking. Every day, it looks at the tall trees with envy and wonders: "Why am I so small? I want to be big now!" It doesn’t notice what is around it: the beauty of the sun, the rain, the wind, or the softness of the earth. It only thinks about its size, which seems too small in its eyes.

Un matin, des hommes entrent dans la forêt. Ils remarquent le petit sapin, qui a bien grandi, et décident de le couper. C’est le grand jour! Le sapin ressent un mélange de peur et d’excitation. Enfin, il va quitter la forêt et découvrir le monde. Il est transporté jusqu’à une jolie maison où on le décore de boules brillantes et de guirlandes colorées. Fier, il brille de mille feux, et il prêt pour la fête de Noël.
Chapter 3: The Big Day
One morning, some men enter the forest. They notice the little fir tree, which has grown well, and decide to cut it down. It’s the big day! The fir tree feels a mix of fear and excitement. At last, it is going to leave the forest and discover the world. It is transported to a lovely house where it is decorated with shiny ornaments and colorful garlands. Proud, it shines brightly and is ready for the Christmas celebration.

La fête de Noël est maintenant terminée. Les lumières s’éteignent, les invités s'en vont, et le sapin se retrouve tout seul. Ses décorations sont retirées une à une. Le sapin se sent vide, triste, et sans éclat. Il réalise que sa beauté d’hier n’était que passagère et regrette de ne pas avoir apprécié davantage sa vie forestière.
Chapter 4: After the Celebration
Christmas is now over. The lights are turned off, the guests leave, and the fir tree is left all alone. Its decorations are removed one by one. The fir tree feels empty, sad, and lifeless. It realizes that its beauty from yesterday was only temporary and regrets not having appreciated its life in the forest more.

Au fil des jours, le sapin perd ses aiguilles. Avant de disparaître complètement, il repense à sa vie dans la forêt. Il se souvient de la douceur du vent, de la lumière du soleil et du chant des oiseaux. Il comprend enfin que chaque instant était précieux et que la vraie magie réside dans le moment présent.
Chapter 5: A Life’s Lesson
As the days go by, the fir tree loses its needles. Before disappearing completely, it thinks back to its life in the forest. It remembers the softness of the wind, the sunlight, and the birdsong. It finally understands that every moment was precious and that true magic lies in the present moment.
